The GONA Training of Facilitators (TOF) is a culturally grounded model for strengthening Indigenous leadership, community healing, and land-based wellness. Through ceremony, dialogue, and skill-building, facilitators are prepared to carry GONA principles back to their communities.
2025 Intertribal GONA Training of Facilitators
Tahlequah, Oklahoma | November 2025
In November 2025, an intertribal GONA Training of Facilitators was hosted in partnership with the United Keetoowah Band. This gathering brought together Indigenous leaders from the United States and Guatemala to deepen cross-cultural collaboration and expand the Healing Pathways network.
The training emphasized:
Intertribal exchange and relationship-building
Strengthening facilitation skills
Cultural continuity and environmental stewardship
Shared learning between Turtle Island and Abya Yala

2024 GONA Training of Facilitators
Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala | July 2024
In July 2024, a Gathering of Native Americans (GONA) Training of Facilitators was held in Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala. This training brought together returning participants from previous GONAs and new Indigenous leaders representing multiple Mayan language groups, including Mam, Q’anjob’al, Chuj, Popti’, Tektitek, Awakatek, Akateko, Q’eqchi’, and Ixil.
Led by Indigenous facilitators from both Guatemala and the United States, the event focused on:
Building facilitator skills grounded in culturally responsive, trauma-informed practices
Revitalizing spiritual and ecological knowledge through ceremony
Strengthening intergenerational and cross-cultural leadership
Participants left prepared to implement GONA in their own communities, contributing to a growing network of Indigenous-led healing initiatives.
